Communication and Information Technology Minister Jagdish Kharel has officially assumed his duties. On Monday, he took the oath of office and secrecy at the President’s Office and then proceeded to his office at Singha Durbar to take charge. The government has decided to form a high-level probe commission to investigate incidents of police suppression, vandalism, arson, and looting that occurred during the recent Genji movement. At a cabinet meeting held on Sunday, Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal announced that the commission will be led by former Special Court Chair and ex-Justice Gauri Bahadur Karki. The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has submitted its 35th annual report to President Ram Chandra Paudel.According to Presidential Office spokesperson Pradeep Kumar Koirala, CIAA Chief Commissioner Prem Kumar Rai presented the report during a meeting at Sheetal Niwas, the President’s official residence. Spokesperson Koirala stated that the submission was made in accordance with Article 294 of the Constitution, which mandates the CIAA to present its annual report to the President.
