A minister informed that the cabinet meeting held Friday at the Prime Minister’s residence, Baluwatar, gave the green light for the trip. During the meeting, discussions were also held on the main and regular agenda items to be raised during the China visit. The Kaligandaki Corridor in Rakse, Kaligandaki Rural Municipality-2, Gulmi has reopened after being completely blocked by a landslide earlier this morning. A case has been filed against Dr. Araniko Pandey, central member of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), at Kathmandu District Court. The case was registered by the District Government Attorney’s Office based on a police investigation report. The hearing of Pandey’s statement has already begun before Judge Dhruvraj Karki. The government has decided to appoint Justice Sudarshan Dev Bhatt as the Chairperson of the Special Court. The Judicial Council had recommended his name along with four new members for the court. In the cabinet meeting held on Friday, the following judges were also approved as members: Justice Narayan Prasad Paudel, High Court, Birgunj Bench Justice Hemant Rawal, High Court, Surkhet Justice Dilliratna Shrestha, Jumla Bench Justice Umesh Koirala, Birgunj Bench Under legal provisions, the chairperson and members of the Special Court are appointed by the government based on the recommendation of the Judicial Council.

The government has appointed Chandrakuber Khapung as the Inspector General of Nepal Police (IGP). A minister informed that the cabinet meeting held today confirmed his appointment, effective from 19th of this month. The current IGP, Deepak Thapa, will retire from service starting midnight of the 18th.
