Bagmati Province Chief Minister Indra Bahadur Baniya has won the vote of confidence in the Bagmati Province Assembly. Chief Minister Baniya secured the vote during Tuesday’s assembly meeting. Out of the 110 members of the provincial assembly, 92 were present during the vote. Of them, 63 voted in favor of the motion of confidence, while 22 voted against it, according to Speaker Bhuvan Kumar Pathak. The District Court Rupandehi has rejected the plea of Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) President Rabi Lamichhane seeking release from custody in the Supreme Cooperative fraud case. Judge Narayan Prasad Sapkota’s bench dismissed the petition despite Lamichhane submitting a bank guarantee of NPR 27,484,000. Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) President Rabi Lamichhane’s petition for release from detention has concluded its hearing, and the court is now in the process of drafting the verdict. According to Padam Aryal, Information Officer at Rupandehi District Court, the hearing took place in the bench of Judge Narayan Prasad Sapkota (Bench No. 10) and has now moved into the order-writing stage. “The hearing is over, and the order is being drafted,” he said. The Gandaki provincial government has abolished nine offices—including seven directorates and two centers—and merged 32 agencies into 17, following a cabinet meeting held Monday morning. Chief Minister Surendra Raj Pandey informed a press conference that the abolition of these nine offices has led to a reduction of 185 staff positions. Besides other office expenses, the government expects to save approximately NPR 500 million annually in salaries and allowances alone.
