Twenty-one people were injured when a municipal bus met with an accident in Arba, Pokhara-13, Kaski. The incident occurred on Monday morning around 9:45 AM while the bus (registration number ग१ख ४०२७) was traveling from Arba to Pokhara. On the occasion of Haritalika Teej festival, the Lumbini Province Government has decided to grant a public holiday on Bhadra 10 (Tuesday). According to a notice issued by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Law, the holiday will be applicable to all government and non-government offices across the province. Sugarcane farmers from across the country have started an indefinite sit-in at Maitighar, Kathmandu, from today in protest against the government’s decision to cut subsidies. The deadline for the Muglin–Pokhara Road Project (Eastern Section) has been extended for the fourth time. The Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport has granted an extension for the section from Jamune to Aanbukhaireni in Tanahun. According to project engineer Bishnu Prasad Pandey, the deadline has now been extended until October 11 (Asoj 25). The third extension had expired on July 13 (Ashad 29). Out of the 41.5-kilometer stretch between Aanbukhaireni and Jamune, blacktopping of four lanes has already been completed. A Bolero jeep (Lu 1 Ja 3174) traveling from Galyang to Kotakot in Kaligandaki Rural Municipality met with an accident at Aruchaur, Ward No. 7, Kaligandaki Rural Municipality, Syangja. The jeep veered off the road and plunged about 30 meters down. A total of 15 passengers on board sustained injuries in the accident.
