India has agreed to purchase 80 megawatts of electricity generated from two hydropower projects in Nepal. The Indian government has also approved further electricity imports from Nepal. With this new approval, Nepal’s total export capacity to India has reached 1,090.9 MW, up from the previous 1,010.9 MW. Including 40 MW already approved for export to Bangladesh, Nepal’s overall export approval now stands at 1,130.9 MW. The Lumbini Province Government has announced a public holiday on the occasion of the Tharu community’s Barka Atwari festival, which falls on Sunday, September 8 (Bhadra 8). A landslide at Rakse in Gulmi has completely obstructed the Kaligandaki Corridor.
