Lawmakers from the Nepali Congress (NC) faction led by Dr. Shekhar Koirala have refused to sign blank sheets, citing lack of clarity about their purpose. Both NC and UML had summoned their lawmakers to collect signatures. However, the Koirala group declined, saying the intent behind the move was not explained. NC leader and House of Representatives member Purnabahadur Tamang (Kanchharam) confirmed they did not sign.“We were not told anything about the signatures, so we did not sign,” he told reporters.

Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) President Rabi Lamichhane has been found to have a deficiency of Vitamin D. According to Dr. Jitendra Prasad Yadav, Lamichhane’s blood test reports confirmed the deficiency. The doctor suggested that the condition resulted from his 126-day confinement inside Rupandehi prison, where he lacked exposure to fresh air and sunlight. Dr. Yadav visited Lamichhane at Nakkhu Prison, stressing the need for some serious health precautions.

The ruling Nepali Congress (NC) and CPN-UML have decided not to move forward immediately with an impeachment motion against Deputy Speaker Indira Rana Magar. CPN-UML Secretary Yogesh Bhattarai has acknowledged that his party collected lawmakers’ signatures on blank sheets, saying it is an old practice in parliamentary politics. Speaking to reporters at Singha Durbar, Bhattarai said the system has been in place since 1991 and is also common in other countries with parliamentary governance. He explained that the party gathers signatures from its lawmakers in advance to prepare for unforeseen political situations.“Sometimes urgent proposals need to be registered when lawmakers are abroad or outside Kathmandu. In such cases, the signatures collected earlier are used as a precaution,” Bhattarai said.

Two committees under the House of Representatives are scheduled to meet today. The Finance Committee will convene at 3:00 PM in the committee hall to discuss the draft report of the bill concerning the mobilization of alternative development finance. Similarly, the Law, Justice, and Human Rights Committee will meet at 1:00 PM to hold a clause-wise discussion on the Nepal Bar Council (Second Amendment) Bill, 2081.
