The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has filed a corruption case at the Special Court in Kathmandu against 11 individuals accused of irregularities in the construction of the Shree Laxmi Secondary School building in Khotang. The Bajura District Prison is facing severe overcrowding, with far more inmates than its original capacity. Built nearly 45 years ago without any expansion, the prison has struggled to manage the increasing number of prisoners, according to staff. Although the prison was designed to hold only 25 inmates, it currently houses 65 prisoners, said prison administrator Anil Kumar Tiwari. “The capacity is just 25, but we are forced to keep 65 inmates, making it very difficult for them to sleep and stay inside,” Tiwari explained. A 60-year-old shepherd, Arjun Ghale of Barpak Sulikot Rural Municipality–1, Gorkha, died after being swept away by a river while trying to save his sheep, according to Indra Prasad Suvedi, Deputy Superintendent of Police at Gorkha District Police Office. The incident occurred around 4 PM on Saturday when Ghale was bringing his sheep home from grazing in the forest. Thailand’s Constitutional Court has dismissed Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra from office on charges of violating ethical standards. The court ruled on Friday that a phone conversation related to a border dispute with Cambodia amounted to a breach of the constitution. With the verdict taking immediate effect, Paetongtarn loses the post she had held for nearly a year. She had already been suspended on July 1 after the court agreed to hear the case, during which Deputy Prime Minister Phumtham Wechayachai assumed her responsibilities.
